Drew Nieporent On The State Of The Restaurant Business In NYC

Thursday, May 28th

Drew Nieporent is one of America’s most respected and celebrated restaurant businessmen, but the pride of Stueyvesant High School here in Manhattan is not immune to the post pandemic economic pinch felt by restaurants in the area.

He’s the founder of the Myriad Restaurant Group which opened in 1985 & operates legendary eateries like the Tribeca Grill, Nobu, and for the first time in the history of his restaurants he's offering takeout.

"We're offering takeout during this &*! damn thing"he says, "we can't keep up with all the orders...and it's not cheap" as he speaks about his high end Japanese cuisine at Nobu.

While it's not an ideal situation to be in, he's preaching patience as the city slowly becomes safe, "the local New York City government is doing a good job, so i'm just gonna wait" he says, " what's the point in rushing to open if we don't have any customers!"

Nieporent is partners with celebrity chef Nobu Matsuhisa and actor Robert De Niro at the Nobu and Nobu London locations.

Myriad has opened and operated more than 35 restaurants around the world, including Seattle, Louisville, Providence, Boca Raton, London, Moscow, and at Citi Field, home of the Mets.
