St Patrick's Day Drinks & Drinking Songs Curated By WCBS-FM DJs

March 11, 2019

Lá Fhéile Pádraig, the Day of the Festival of Patrick, St Paddy's Day -- no matter what you call it -- you definitely celebrate it!

As the Tri-state prepares the streets for massive parades and the bars go all green with decorations, we're looking forward to tossing back a few with our friends and family while listening to some great tunes. What better way to prepare than with a few special cocktail recipies from our famous jocks and some of their favorite songs about the sauce?!

Joe Causi's Go-To St. Paddy's Cocktail:

Whenever I’m out and about, especially during the summer months, my all-time favorite boat drink has to be a MANGO DAIQUIRI!

1 1⁄2 cups frozen mangoes, cubed
3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1 ounce triple sec
4 teaspoons sugar
2 cups ice cubes

Joe Causi's Favorite Drinking Song:

My favorite drinking song has to be "Boat Drinks" by Jimmy Buffett off his 1979 album Volcano!  Besides being just one awesome song. It really gets you in the mood for what else.

Ross Brittain's Go-To St. Paddy's Cocktail:

Irish Car Bomb
1/2 shot Jameson’s
1/2 shot Bailey’s Irish Cream
3/4 of a pint of Guinness.

You float the Jameson’s on top of the Irish cream in a shot glass; then drop it into a glass of Guinness and chug it before it turns into a coagulated mess. There’s a reason I can only do one on St Pat’s.

Here are a few more recipies for disaster:

Nutty Irishman
1 oz Frangelico Hazelnut Liqueur
1 oz Bailey's Irish Cream
1 oz Cream
--mix together in glass

Cerebral Hemorrhage
1 oz Bailey's Irish cream
1 oz Kahlua coffee liqueur
1 oz peach, or strawberry schnapps
3 drops grenadine syrup
--Add Kahlua, then carefully layer on Bailey's, then the schnapps. Put the drops of grenadine in for effect

Cement Mixer
1 oz Bailey's Irish cream
1 oz lime or lemon juice
--mix together in mouth

Buttery Nipple
1 oz Bailey's Irish cream
1 oz Butterscotch schnapps

Ross' Favorite Drinking Song:

Gotta be “One Bourbon, One Scotch, One Beer” by John Lee Hooker. Line up three in a row on the bar and I’ll call a cab... I’ll have to!!!
