DA of the Day: Goofus Goes Back For His Drugs Left In Uber, Gallant Chalks Up a Loss

January 14, 2019

Our DA of the Day today left his drugs in an Uber, and was swiftly arrested when he tried to get them back!

A Pennsylvania man found himself high and dry when an undercover state trooper posed as the driver of the Uber in which he had previously left around two puonds of marijuana inside.

Malik Rasaan Mollett, 21, of Wilkinsburg, PA had set up a meeting at a McDonald’s to supposedly get his drugs back, according to court documents. The actual Uber driver contacted state police to turn over the shopping bag filled with two vacuumed-sealed packages of suspected marijuana, marked with “GG4” that was found in his vehicle after a fare. He also provided the cell phone number of the rider.

So, investigators called him, pretending to be the Uber driver, and arranged to meet him and drop off the bag.

When Mollett arrived and identified the bag as his, troopers placed him under arrest.

Mollett is charged with manufacture, delivery or possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, criminal use of a communication facility and possession of a controlled substance and is being held on $150,000 cash bail.
