Joe Causi back at you again with another week in music history and this week — hold on to your seats — We’ve got some of the wildest events ever in music history from Beatle haircuts bringing out the worst, to Michael Jackson doing the worst!
It’s all ahead…
Let’s head back to 1963, when John Weightman the Headmaster of a Surrey Grammar School in England, banned all pupils from having “Beatles haircuts” saying, “this ridiculous haircut style brings out the worst in boys physically. It makes them look like morons.”
It happened this week in 1986 when Pop history was made when the top five UK singles were all by female vocalists; Corinne Drewery from Swing Out Sister, Mel and Kim, Susannah Hoffs from The Bangles, Kim Wilde and Terri Nunn from Berlin who were at number 1 with ‘Take My Breath Away.’ Wow,
Talk about GIRL POWER!
It’s back to 1996, when the “King Of Pop,” Michael Jackson, married Debbie Rowe in Sydney Australia.
The couple had met when he was diagnosed with vitiligo in the mid 80s where she was working as his dermatologist’s assistant. The couple divorced on October 8, 1999, with Rowe giving full custody rights of the children to Jackson, with Rowe receiving an $8 million settlement.
Now THAT’S a SETTLEMENT!
Talk about crazy…
It happened this week in 2002, when safety experts blasted Michael Jackson after dangling his baby from a third-floor hotel balcony!
Jacko was in Berlin for an awards ceremony and was showing his nine-month old baby to his fans outside the hotel.
Not a cool stunt!
