Nile Rodgers‘ passion for creating and playing music goes unquestioned. He’s responsible for so many hit records, most of which you had no idea he had a hand in creating. “You did that one, too?!” to quote Rodgers’ mother, sums up the general response he hears when knowledge of his work spreads. Rodgers is currently focusing his passion into FOLD Festival, his own music festival with a bit of a twist.

“I curate my festivals to represent the, sort of, holistic scene of the area,” Rodgers tells CBS-FM’s Dan Taylor. “I don’t try and just do an EDM show, or just a dance show, or just a disco show, or just an R&B show, or just a jazz show; I do something that’s just sort of a like an old Top 40 radio station.”

FOLD is Rodgers’ Top 40 radio station made particularly for music lovers in New York. His hand-picked lineup includes famed names Bette Midler, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Village People, and Chic — featuring himself, of course. Opening up the festival will be DJ Cassidy, Alex Newell, and Nicky Siano, famously known as the former resident DJ at Studio 54.

FOLD Festival will be held on October 8th at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, New York. Tickets for the show are available here.
