Axl Rose‘s latest source of frustration is the entire internet.

TorrentFreak reports that several DMCA copyright takedown notices have been submitted by Google at the request of Web Sheriff on the behalf of Axl Rose. Why the sudden influx? It appears Rose isn’t a fan of the “Fat Axl” meme.

For those unfamiliar, “Fat Axl” stems from an unflattering photo of Rose taken taken by photographer Boris Minkevich during a 2010 concert. With Rose being such a polarizing and temperamental figure, the photo prompted folks on the internet to do their best: add Guns N’ Roses food puns in Impact font across them to share.

The description from the DMCA reads, “Copyright image of Axl Rose. Please be advised that no permission has been granted to publish the copyright image so we cannot direct you to an authorized example of it.”

Google hasn’t removed the photos from search as of yet, meaning they don’t see cause to do so or they are waiting for more specific actions to be taken. Ownership of the photo, though confirmed to be taken by Minkevich, is unknown. Some performers with Rose’s stature demand releases from photographers before being granted permission to shoot their performances, transferring varying degrees of ownership of the photographer’s work to the musician being photographed.

“We can gladly confirm that all official / accredited photographers at [Axl Rose] shows sign-off on ‘Photography Permission’ contracts / ‘Photographic Release’ agreements which A. specify and limit the manner in which the photos can be exploited and B. transfer copyright ownership in such photos to AR’s relevant service company,” Web Sheriff wrote in statement to TorrentFreak.

Rose is currently on tour with AC/DC.
