John Fogerty stopped by Conan O’Brien recently to promote his new autobiography Fortunate Son.

During the interview, Fogerty recalled the humorous story of Creedence Clearwater Revival‘s set following the Grateful Dead at Woodstock.

“We were promised a primetime slot,” he told Conan. “What they didn’t tell me is you’re gonna follow the Grateful Dead. Things went sorely wrong after they hit the stage, what they didn’t tell us until the ’90s was they had all taken LSD just as they went on stage.”

“About the middle of their [midnight] set it went dead silent, I don’t really know what happened. It was quiet for an hour, and then they started playing again.”
