Chris Cornell Announces Solo Album, Acoustic Tour

By Brian Ives

The last several years have been great for Soundgarden fans, with the legendary Seattle band releasing King Animal in 2012 (their first album in 16 years), and the band going on multiple tours since 2011.

But now it seems frontman Chris Cornell is going to focus on his solo career. He’s just announced the release of his first solo album since 2009’s not-well-received Scream. Titled Higher Truth, the new album is set for release on Sept. 18.

Cornell is also going on a solo acoustic tour in the fall, where he’ll be playing songs from the new album, as well as material from his entire career. His solo acoustic shows, which he’s been doing often in the past few years, draw not just from Soundgarden and his solo albums, but also Audioslave and Temple of the Dog.
