We’re all very familiar with Josh Groban’s stellar operatic style of singing. He’s sold over 25 million records, so any argument to the contrary is nil. Groban has also dabbled with acting, having made guest appearances on TV shows Ally McBeal, The Office, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, as well as the 2011 romantic comedy-drama Crazy, Stupid, Love.

Tonight (April 3), Groban will reprise his role as Danny Chase on the CBS sitcom The Crazy Ones — starring Robin Williams and Sarah Michelle Gellar, a father-daughter team at a Chicago advertising agency — also featuring an appearance by country singer Brad Paisley, a man Groban’s character isn’t too fond of.

“He’s (Danny Chase) becomes this diva… go-to jingle writer,” says Groban of his character’s back story involving Paisley. “I was one of those vocal game show contestants and Brad Paisley was one of the judges and he wasn’t too kind to me… my character has always remembered that, so I wind up always having it out for Brad Paisley.”

The result is Groban being popped across the face. Luckily, Paisley knows how to throw a punch like a proper stuntman.

Long before achieving success as a singer, Groban took to acting and landed a role on one of the late 1990s and early ’00s.

“I kind of started in acting before I got signed to a label deal,” said Groban, who began his acting career on Ally McBeal. “The fact that it’s kind of come back around pretty naturally and the fact that I get to be around really fun people… it’s a really fun day at the office.”

Despite his love for acting, Groban never plans to bail on his music career, saying, “Music will always be my 100%.” He’ll be joined by local orchestras during Summer tour dates that will see him performing at Bethel Woods Center on August 23rd and Mohegan Sun Arena on August 29th. Tickets are available at JoshGroban.com.
