Arnold Schwarzenegger is back in action for a starring role in a Sabotage, an upcoming action thriller and crime drama that has the former Governator leading a DEA task force in to bust a drug cartel safe house. Scott Shannon in the Morning entertainment reporter Brad Blanks was on the red carpet for the premiere to get the skinny of how the now 66-year-old kept fit for the demanding role and his return to a genre that helped make him famous.

“I had to be in shape,” said Arnold of pressure from director David Ayer to be in top form for the role of John “Breacher” Wharton. “He insisted on my going through the training with the SWAT team, and the police, and the weapons training… and to be physically in shape to do the scenes.”

Sabotage has Schwarzenegger taking on the sole leading role in an action film for the first time since ending his eight-year run as the 38th Governor of California in 2011.

“I’ve enjoyed the action genre a lot, although I also enjoy comedies and character driven pieces,” explains Arnold. “In this movie I was fortunate to have something that was character driven and also and action movie.”

Along with Schwarzenegger, Sabotage stars Sam Worthington, Olivia Williams, and Terrence Howard, coming to theaters on March 28. Watch Brad Blank’s interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger below.
