"These stories are so inspiring."

Some consider her the woman who gave birth to disco, or at very least responsible for its ascension into mainstream popularity. But unlike the doomed genre of feel good dance tunes, Gloria Gaynor survived.

It’s been 35 years since the release of “I Will Survive,” and now Gaynor is here to deliver a new message: We Will Survive, which happens to be the title of her new book.

“Well, people have been telling me stories of how this song has encouraged them and empowered them to make it through difficult situations in their lives. Really, very often, tragic situations in their lives.” said Gaynor. “When they’ve told me these stories, they’ve been so encouraging and inspiring to me, I decided it was time for me to share that encouragement and inspiration with the public.”

The book recounts real life experiences from people who are survivors in their own right: a rescuer from the Oklahoma bombing; a mother who lost a child during 9/11; and a Holocaust survivor. There are 40 stories in total, coming from countries across the globe.

“These stories are so inspiring,” added Gaynor.

We Will Survive is on bookshelves now and available for purchase through Amazon.
