Nile Rodgers made a name for himself as the founding member of Chic, then made a career out of being one of the more prolific and successful producers in the music industry. He also happens to be a friend of “Brooklyn’s Own” Joe Causi.

Rodgers will be a part of Authors Night in Long Island this weekend and is holding his own one-day music festival — Nile Rodgers + CHIC Dance Party for AFTEE — on August 19th. He spoke with Causi about that, and accidentally revealed a special guest performer for the festival, which you can watch HERE.

Before all of Rodgers’ big upcoming events, Causi decided to continue his Top 5 lists by counting down his favorite Nile Rodgers & Chic songs.

5. “Dance, Dance, Dance (Yowsah, Yowsah, Yowsah)”

Starting out at #5, we take it to the beginning from the Master of Dance Music and a song from his first album Chic, where it would be in the fall of 1977 when Nile would give us a song that would liven up the pulse of dance music.

4. “Le Freak”

Coming in at #4 is a song that came about after a New Year’s Eve altercation at Studio 54 in the New York City. For a more in depth look on what transpired check out Nile’s biography, Le Freak: An Upside Down Story of Family, Disco, and Destiny.

3. “My Forbidden Lover”

#3 has to be one of the coolest classics from Nile of all time. With all those incredible funky bass beats and guitar licks, how could you not dance to “My Forbidden Lover”?

2. “I Want Your Love”

#2 has to go to “I Want Your Love,” a song that I recently feel was reborn thanks to the the new Daft Punk track “Get Lucky.”

1. “Good Times”

At #1, a cut by Nile that became a dance anthem on two floors: The dance floor and rollerskating floor. From the album Risqué, “Good Times” will make you strap on those skates.
