In May, Van Halen released a video titled simply, “Public Relations,” in which frontman David Lee Roth explains why the band abruptly postponed more than 30 North American tour dates. While Roth told fans that Van Halen need a short break in order to go the distance with their world tour and that dates would be rescheduled, the band’s North American tour has been canceled, according to Ticketmaster (and reported by Pollstar).

Van Halen’s most recent tour stop was in New Orleans on June 26, and per the band’s earlier postponement, it was slated to be their last until North American shows were rescheduled. However, now Ticketmaster’s website is showing that all previously-postponed Van Halen shows have been canceled. The tour page on the Van Halen website, which previously displayed their show schedule, is now blank. The band has not released a statement.

Past incidents involving Eddie Van Halen’s health and disagreements among Roth and Van Halen have previously plagued the band. Roth denied these rumors, however, in his video from May. He described the situation: “As usual, we bit off way more than we could chew when it came to scheduling,” he says. “The band is winning, but our schedule has been sidelined for unnecessary roughness. If we continue past July 4th and all the way into Australia and Japan, then we’re asking for the robot-zombie tour.”

In the clip, Roth added that “the band is getting along famously – better than we have in some time.” Roth remained confident about Van Halen’s touring schedule for the next several years, promising rescheduled dates and even more U.S. tour dates once the band tours overseas. “We’re gonna take a break and we’re gonna come all the way back around, because this tour is gonna take about two years,” Roth said.

Rumors swirled last month that Van Halen would be rocking the Super Bowl this February, based on Eddie’s comments to USA Today about “doing something special” touring-wise in 2013 that he can’t discuss at the moment.

Van Halen has spent much of 2012 on the road, promoting A Different Kind Of Truth, their first album with David Lee Roth since 1984.
