Donovan, Guns N’ Roses and Faces are among the 2012 inductees to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this weekend in Cleveland. To celebrate such a momentous day in music, this weekend CBS-FM salutes those artists along with past inductees during our Rock and Roll Hall of Fame weekend!

To get you started, we’re going to take a look back at some of the inaugural inductees who were enshrined on January 23, 1986.

Elvis Presley

Often referred to as the “King of Rock and Roll,” “the King” or simply Elvis, Presley not only changed the landscape of popular music but spawned a cultural revolution. Little Richard spoke of Elvis’ impact in the book Elvis After Elvis, The Posthumous Career of a Living Legend, saying “He was an integrator. Elvis was a blessing. They wouldn’t let black music through. He opened the door for black music.”

Chuck Berry

A true pioneer of rock music, Berry helped shape the sound and lifestyle of rock ‘n’ roll. His plaque at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame words perfectly the impression of many in regards to the living legend:

“While no individual can be said to have invented rock and roll, Chuck Berry comes the closest of any single figure to being the one who put all the essential pieces together. It was his particular genius to graft country & western guitar licks onto a rhythm & blues chassis in his very first single, ‘Maybellene.'”

Make sure to tune into CBS-FM all weekend long to hear past and present inductees from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the CBS-FM Hall of Fame!
