Everyone’s favorite good ‘ol boys from down South, [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Lynyrd Skynyrd[/lastfm], have revealed plans to record a new album. It will be the band’s first since 2009’s God’s & Guns.

Lynyrd Skynyrd won’t make their way into the studio just yet. They are striking while the touring iron is hot, and we all know it’s a bad idea to say no to money. They been touring quite a bit this year, including dates with [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]ZZ Top[/lastfm].

“It’s a good year so far; everybody’s healthy and we’re getting a lot of work,” lead singer Johnny Van Zant told Billboard magazine. “So we’ll probably take to it in November, and then probably take off the middle and latter half of December and come back in January and finish it off.”

Fans shouldn’t expect to hear any of the new material while the band is on their current tour. The band has just finished the writing for the album, and has only worked on a few demos, none of it ready for a live audience.

But Van Zant says fans can expect one thing… that good ‘ol Skynyrd sound they all love!

“If it ain’t broke, don’t try to fix it. We write about things that we’ve done or things that have happened to people around us. It’s for the common people, people who have made this great country of ours. That’s what the heck I say we always write about.”

Here’s some classic Lynyrd Skynyrd for you, “Sweet Home Alabama.”
