america 40th Anniversary Plans For America

[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]America[/lastfm] is turning 40.  Dewey Bunnell says, “It’s hard we’ve been at this now 40 years. Straight out of high school — we graduated in 1969 — and 1970 was the birth of our band America. The 40th anniversary is an important milestone.

Bunnell, Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek formed America in England and recorded their debut album there, featuring “Horse With No Name” in 1971.

Though plans aren’t firm, Bunnell says they may try and reunite here next year with Brian Wilson, Peter Frampton and Chicago with whom they recently toured Australia. He describes those shows as “an incredible amount of beautiful music. The spirit was there and I know that every person left the venue having seen something pretty special.” And to salute their acoustic roots, the middle of America’s sets were “unplugged, three guys with guys on stools by themselves.”

Brian Wilson? Peter Frampton? Chicago? They should also “try and re-unite” with Dan Peek for this milestone.
